Small Town Sidewalks

An appreciative passing thought.

The heavenly pods of flowers that scatter the sidewalks of small towns

are a blessing unknown to urbanites

with city maintenance workers disinclined to their upkeep.

They will never go unappreciated to the wanderers

that happen upon scattered small shops and communities

on a sunny day’s road trip.

I find myself entranced, not by the selection of colors,

so random and overflowing they feel wild,

but the care taken by those who understand the value of the little things.
