Life is made out of two things:
actions and stories.

The choices we make are real
and the stories we make around them aren’t.
Who do we think we are
and are we ever right?

Am I one thing, or two?
Will the person I am
even meet the one inside my head;
Could they even get along?

I’ve been running my fingers
round the back of my skull looking for the seam
but I’m not sure, once I find it,
whether I’ll tighten the stitches into a quilt
or start myself a lovely pile of mismatched scraps.
